Midland Memorial Hospital, the only not-for-profit hospital in Midland County, Texas was established by prominent community leaders with one mission: “to make quality healthcare available to all residents of Midland County”. Midland Memorial Hospital was built with funds donated by individuals, corporations and foundations as a nonprofit, community-based hospital, offering medical care to all Midlanders, regardless of their ability to pay. Midland is on the Top 100 List of Most Wired Hospitals and is a HIMSS Stage 6 facility with a fully electronic medical record.  MIdland won CIO Top 100 honors in 2009 in honor of their innovation.
In June 2011, EHR Doctors connected with Social Security to implement the health IT initiative in their disability process. The result was a C32 Continuity of Care Document with a full medical record coming out of a VistA EHR system that leveraged NwHIN Exchange as the transport protocol.  The data exchange far exceeds what is required by Meaningful Use 2 standards.
